A Roadside Tea House, Uzbekistan
Such tea houses or "chai hannas" exist throughout Central Asia to this day and this photo could just as easily have been taken yesterday as opposed to the early 20th century. Note they men are seated on a striped flat woven kilim. The man seated in front to the left wearing a thick felted coat and an embroidered hat appears to be of Tartar stock, distincty darker and perhaps hardier than the Uzbek men who surround him.
