A Kirghiz Family

A curious photograph of a Kirghiz family, taken during Czarist times, in an area controlled by the Czars of Russia. Possibly taken in the Khiva region, given the presence of Chodor main carpets hung on the wall behind these poeple, a traditional manner in which to use these main carpets. It is difficult to see exactly what is on teh ground but it appears to be some type of textile or flatweave, but I am not sure.
