A Monk in Shigatse

A very romantic view taken while walking through the labyrinthine alleys of the monastic grounds at Tashilumpo Monastery in Shigatse. Tashilumpo is one of the biggest monastic communities in Tibet, the seat of the Panchen Lama who now resides in China under the 'protection' of the Communist government. Traditionally, the Chinse have always controlled the Panchen Lama, while the Dalai Lama, head of the yellow hat Gelukpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, has always been independent.
