Himalayan Mountain Pass

Taken at an altitude exceeding 18,000 feet, this mountain pass lays between the Nepali border and Shigatse. I had never been at such an altitude before and it was truly an other world experience, accentuated by this scene of prayer flags flapping in the breeze and the countless stones that had been arranged as offerings to the gods, offerings to ensure safety for all those who passed on this perilous journey through the high mountains of Tibet. To stand at this spot and behold the arid beauty truly was like being on top of the world.
