Kirghiz Family, Central Asia
This photo is taken from an old Russian postcard, depicting an entire Kirghiz family, circa 1903. Note the use of ikat chapans for the women and the much simpler attireof the men. Posing for the photographer, the man to the extreme right of the photo is apparently very pleased with the situation, saluting the photographer with a big smile on his face, while the child next to him is taking this much more seriously, standing at attention, very stiff.
