Nomads From the Steppe Lands of Western Turkistan

Far from prepossessing are these Kirghiz with their high cheek bones, narrow eyes, and broad, flat faces: but they are singularly wiry of constitution, and well fitted for the roving life they lead about the wide plains and the mountain slopes of Turkistan.
