"Village Life - A Festive Gathering"

The music traditions of Asia are old, as it is from the steppes that the classical music traditions of lands as far away as India are derived.

Here we see a man playing a small stringed instrument (a dotar?), with two others playing flutes seated to his side. He appears to be singing. In my experiences with Afghans and their music, the songs often tell stories of love or tales of heroic ventures from the past.

The tent in back of them is probably a wooden lattice structure overed with what appears to possibly be a black felted cloth.
