Silk Velvet Ikat, Persia, 19th Century, 1’11” x  3’4”

A beautiful, sensually pleasing textile from Persia.  Silk velvet ikat is one of the more luxurious types of textiles made in Asia, though the process is apparently known only to the Persians and Uzbeks, as no one else engaged with ikat does such weaving.

The condition is good though there is slight wear in two spots (see detail images) and the lower right corner is missing.  The colors are all derived from natural dyes.

Price - $1550 including shipping (domestic USA only)
